WHAT BROUGHT THIS ABOUT? cassian is trying to create some semblance of a life here on earth, and he is used to relying on himself - but he's been building up a new home base of sorts in new amsterdam, including a literal home. judas's simulation cut him off from his home base and his core resources. it was a very sharp reminder against being too complacent, that even though he is fighting to get it back, he could again be stuck somewhere with very little but the clothes on his back.
it put pressure on his ability to find and manage resources, and will unlock in him the ability to help create his own. ( this power up was earned in the gates event )
