WHAT BROUGHT THIS ABOUT? while in new beijing, cassian spent a lot of time in the underground levels, and during a rescue of some kids, combined his power with jyn's to create a trap of underground mud. it reminded him of being back on the field back home and of kids wrecked by war, especially as it relates to the planet of (imperial) coruscant with its own levels of poverty, and it was infuriating. he died and he is still dealing with all this nonsense, it just makes him angry - angry enough to accidentally explode open the ground. his life was and continues to be surrounded by violence, and he is an experienced saboteur. he can't escape it. bombs away!
