Unfortunately tape recorders have been long extinct by this point, so any recording he did would have to be through the implant. There are apps for this! Logistically speaking, the implant interfaces with bones of the inner ear and converts what someone hears into digital form, so he would then be able to access and play back the files he recorded through his implant.

It might be possible for him to hunt down someone who could build a tape recorder, but given that they've not existed for so long, even finding someone who could specialize in it and get their hands on the materials would be difficult -- not to mention that they would have to make him cassettes too. It's likely too expensive of an endeavor to be feasible for him at this point, though he could maybe come back to it somewhere down the line!
