To elaborate on the racing scene in the Meadowlark world: The most popular forms of racing are street racing, followed by VR racing and then true hover car and hover bike racing. Hover car and bike racing takes place in several different arenas around the world in the more popular cities, such as New Beijing. New Amsterdam currently does not have an arena for hover car or bike racing!
To answer both I and II:
There is potential there, but it would take John out of the city more often than not. We'd suggest that he start with something like VR racing, if he wanted to head the legit route into more formal forms of racing. There are still VR competitions, and he'd be able to win some credits if he's good, along with some notoriety. Likewise, he could also go the illegitimate route, and take a look at the illegal street racing, which would earn him attention of a different sort! They'd take different initiatives in the circle John would find himself a part of. If you decide to go one way or another, please let us know!
