Most of it would be limbs - things that are more easily obtained, for instance, and there would be some in bulk.

It would largely be so that corporations would be able to cheaply employ AI - but there would also be some aspect of humans wanting to play god by creating a sentient being themselves. The latter would have easily motivated the former aspect of things. Xelkov was the company that streamlined these efforts and perfected them for the rest of the world.
