As long as someone has access to the parts and has the skill, it shouldn't be too difficult to put something together that would resemble one of the robots sold as household pets ("very rewarding," is what one of the posts will say). Figuring out the programming would be the most challenging part of the thrill of building a pet robot. She wouldn't need to do much except put in the legwork, here!
