They're all unique in their programming and then recycled for parts, less advanced than Star Wars' droids if you want to use that comparison (especially due to the lack of sentience). It wouldn't be likely that she could repurpose something damaged, but she would be able to get some parts!

There are several online forums that are dedicated to making DIY pet robots! As long as someone has access to the parts and has the skill, it shouldn't be too difficult to put something together that would resemble one of the robots sold as household pets ("very rewarding," is what one of the posts will say). Figuring out the programming would be the most challenging part of the thrill of building a pet robot. She wouldn't need to do much except put in the legwork, here!
